What is a long-lasting semi-permanent color?

A long-lasting semi-permanent color contains no ammonia and deposits only. It is mixed with a low-volume developer to help open the cuticle and lasts up to 24 shampoos. This type of color is used to blend gray, enhance natural color, refresh color, tone highlights or for corrective work.

What product or products do you recommend if I want to introduce a client to a first-time color service?

Clairol Professional has two unique colors great for introducing clients to color. The first is Complements Long-Lasting Semi-Permanent which has a variety of colors. It is mixed with its own dedicated developer, called Color Prompter, which produces a gel-like consistency. If you like working with a liquid color, Radiance Translucent Deposit-Only Color is a great choice. There are vibrant shades available to be mixed with a dedicated developer, Radiance Color Infuser.

Will a long-lasting semi-permanent color cover gray?

A long-lasting semi-permanent color will cover gray only if the hair is fine or porous. It will usually blend gray, making it appear highlighted.

Can I use Complements Long-Lasting Semi-Permanent and Radiance Translucent Deposit-Only Color to tone pre-lightened hair?

Yes. Choose a color in a Level 8-Light Blonde to Level 10-Lightest Blonde in the desired tone. Check color results every 5 minutes.

Can I do a tintback with a long-lasting semi-permanent?

You can successfully tintback hair with Complements Long-Lasting Semi-Permanent by using:

1 oz. 6G Dark Blonde
1 oz. 6N Dark Blonde
2 oz. Color Prompter

Apply to lightened pieces and strand test every 5 minutes for up to 15 minutes. Rinse and condition.
